HOW IT WORKS
-
PICK YOUR BRANDS
Choose from around 50 brands advertising during the Super Bowl. Pick your favorites or use our Cheat Sheet for key insights—celeb cameos, teasers, and links to full ads as they drop.
-
DRAFT YOUR TEAM
Pick one brand from each of five categories—food, drinks, tech, rookies, and flex. Every brand has a price, and you’ll need to stay under the fictional $100 cap. Ready? Draft now!
-
SCORE POINTS AND WIN
Brands earn points based on how their ads are reviewed by audiences, industry experts and on social media. Check back the day after the Super Bowl to see how your team ranks against friends or on the global leaderboard.
5 POSITIONS
Your team must include one brand from each of the five positions.
food
Nobody’s here for the salad. These are the chips, pizza, and, yes, even mayo fueling the Super Bowl party. Think Doritos, Reese’s, Hellmann’s and more.
Drinks
Watching football makes you thirsty. These beers and sodas keep you going. Crack open a Bud Light, Mountain Dew or water (if you must).
TECH
Doing things is so overrated. These brands book, order, stream, and file your taxes so you don’t have to. Tubi, Meta, Uber Eats and more.
ROOKIES
Meet the new kids on the block. These brands are making their Super Bowl debut—Liquid Death, Duracell, and…Totino’s Pizza Rolls?! Yes, please.
FLEX
The wild cards! From trucks to toiletries to touchdown bets, this is everything that didn’t fit anywhere else. Ram, Dove, FanDuel and more.

SCORE POINTS AND WIN
audiences
Every year, viewers rate ads on the USA Today Ad Meter—the higher your brand ranks, the higher its score.
INDUSTRY
The recipient of the Super Clio takes the top spot. Our panel of ad agency experts reviews and rates the rest.
SOCIAL
The internet weighs in. We track likes on official brand posts across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok—more engagement, more points.
FAQs
-
Fantasy Brands is the game of fantasy football for Super Bowl commercials. Draft a team of five brands running ads during the big game and score points based on how they perform with audiences, industry experts, and on social media.
-
Pick five brands—one from each position: food, drinks, tech, rookies, and flex. Every brand has a price, and you’ll need to stay under the fictional $100 cap. (Don’t worry, it’s not real money.)
After the Super Bowl, brands earn points based on audience reactions, expert reviews, and social media engagement. Rack up more points than your friends or climb the global leaderboard to claim bragging rights.

-
Check out our constantly updated Fantasy Brands Cheat Sheet. It’s packed with details on each ad, celeb cameos, and links to watch the spots as they’re released. Keep in mind that a brand’s price reflects our best guess at its ad’s likelihood of success.
When building your team, you can splurge on a couple of big-name favorites and find value picks in other categories, or play it safe with solid, mid-priced brands across the board. The key? Spotting those undervalued brands that will crush expectations and deliver big points.
-
Nope. This isn't a snack draft where you can load up on chips and candy brands. One brand per position—please draft responsibly.
-
Yes. You need a pick at every position—no empty slots allowed.
-
We had a lot of rookie brands this year! To keep a balanced number of brands across all categories, we moved some rookies into other position groups. For example, Coffee Mate and Cirkul were moved into the drinks category, Häagen-Dazs and Ritz went into food, Meta and OpenAI joined the tech group, and HexClad finds its home in Flex.
-
Your team won’t count, and you’ll be left watching from the sidelines.
Because we’re ad nerds, not actual nerds with coding chops, you'll need to manually add up your team's cost and make sure it stays under $100. If your lineup goes over the cap, it won’t count—so do the math and stay honest.
That said, you don’t have to spend the full $100, but there are no bonus points for spending less. After all, this is advertising. Blow the budget!
-
Yep, totally free! It's all about having fun with friends or family at your Super Bowl party. That $100 salary cap? It's just for balancing the game—no actual cash involved.
-
We don’t have that functionality yet, but if you really want to make a last-minute switch, email us at info@playfantasybrands.com, and we’ll see what we can do.

In fantasy football, players score points for yards gained or touchdowns scored. Fantasy Brands works a little differently—since it’s all subjective, we use a mix of audience ratings, industry expert opinions, and social media engagement.
Here’s how it breaks down:
Audiences: We use the USA Today Ad Meter, a live poll where the public rates Super Bowl ads on a scale of 1-5. Ads are ranked, and we turn those rankings into points—first place gets the most, second place slightly less, and so on. For example, if 50 brands advertise, the top-ranked ad gets 50 points, second gets 49, and so on.
Industry: We factor in the Super Clio, an award given by ad industry luminaries to the best Super Bowl ad. Since they only pick one winner, we bring in our own panel of industry pros to rank the rest of the field, using the same point system as the Ad Meter.
Social: We track how ads perform on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, counting likes from official brand posts. The ad with the most likes earns the most points, with the rest following in descending order. More engagement, more points.
Each brand’s final score is the total of these three components. So, if a brand crushes it across the board—with audiences, industry experts, and on social—it’ll land at the top of the rankings. Your team’s score is the combined total of your five brands. If there’s a tie, the tiebreaker will be total points scored during the Super Bowl. Simple, right?
-
Not this year, but we’re working on it. For now, it’s all about the glory. Want to set up a friendly pool at your Super Bowl watch party and use our site to track scores? We won’t stop you.
-
Yes, your team must be submitted by kickoff on Sunday, February 9, 2025, to be included on our global leaderboard.

Fantasy Brands was created by Brandon Curl and Dale Austin—two advertising creatives.
Brandon, a longtime fantasy football fan, came up with the idea with friends while in ad school and has been playing with friends and family for the last 10+ years. Now, he’s bringing it to the masses. Dale, on the other hand, doesn’t get fantasy football but owns an impressive collection of fantasy figurines. They’re NOT dolls!
